Best JS Online headline
Last year Dave Bush got shelled in his first start. The headline: Bush beaten around.
How to scare the beezus out a Brewers fan
A few weeks ago, a co-worker of mine walked into the office and said, "My condolences to the Brewers losing their best pitcher for the season." My first reaction was "What? Who?" The funny thing was Ben Sheets didn't even flash through my mind, because I guess I had subconsciously thought that if it was him, it wasn't that much of a surprise that someone would walk into my office and tell me. My next thought was Gallardo since he was on the DL, in which I started thinking "noooo...." So I asked him, "wait, who's out for the season?" He said, "Oh, you didn't hear? Capuano. Isn't he your #1 pitcher?" He was... two years ago. I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
The Brewers are coming into town to play the Reds this weekend! And it looks like the aforementioned Gallardo might be making a start...

Brewers Fantasy League Sleepers no more
So I'm in this fantasy baseball league with a bunch of native Ohioans and a couple of Red Sox fans. Last year I was able to grab a bunch of Brewers sleepers... Corey Hart in the last round, Ben Sheets in the middle rounds, and JJ Hardy in free agency. In May last year, I was contemplating a trade with one Ohioan, sending Alfonso Soriano to him for Erik Bedard. Figuring I was a homer, he said he'd throw in this rookie 3B he just picked up named Ryan Braun to make it work. I had just missed picking him up, so I jumped at that opportunity. He still hasn't forgiven me.
This year was a bit different... We had a "reverse homer" thing going on. One guy took Fielder, Sheets, Gallardo, and Weeks. I had a shot at Braun in round 2, but I passed. He ended up being picked by the same guy who made the trade with me last year (he said "When you passed up Braun I actually Googled him to see what was wrong with him.") I think despite not getting my favorite Brewers, I'm actually kinda proud that people in Cincinnati are stocking up on my team's players. I like to think I had something to do with that.
By the way, I still reached deep to grab a couple of Brewer sleepers... Parra and Villanueva in the last two rounds!

Brewers Gagne-ing
I'm watching the Brewers on Gamecast on Saturday (when Gagne came in and mowed down the Giants for the save), and I get into this IM chat with my friend Winston. Amazing what you can learn from baseball...
Me: Brewers bringing in Gagne?
Winston: gagner in French means "to win"
Me: really, that's cool! He is French
Winston: well he better win then
Me: Go gagne
Me: ya Brewers gagnge… Gagne gagne
Winston: yeah, I forget how to conjugate it:
je gagne
tu gagnes
il / elle gagne
Me: Brewers gagne
Winston: Gagne gagne is right though
Me: so who "gagne"? Gagne gagne
Winston: he wins. Gagne wins. Brewers Gagnent
Me: nice
Winston: man, I know so little French
considering I took it for 7 years
